BACTRIM DS TABLET is a combination of two antibiotics: Trimethoprim and Sulphamethoxazole. It is a powerful combination antibiotic that treats infections caused by bacteria, such as urinary tract, respiratory, and skin infections. It is also used to treat infections in the ear, nose and throat, where Trimethoprim is not an effective antibiotic. Sulphamethoxazole belongs to a class of antibiotics called sulfonamides. These antibiotics work by preventing the growth and spread of bacteria. This helps to relieve the symptoms of infection and reduce the risk of complications such as pain and fever.
Product Dose Information
The dose of BACTRIM DS TABLET for adults and children over 12 years of age is 50 mg/day for the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. The recommended starting dose is 50 mg/day for adults and children above 65 years of age. The dose may be increased as needed, depending on the severity of the infection and how the patient responds to the antibiotic. Patients with kidney or liver problems should start at the lowest dose of 50 mg/day. Depending on the infection type and severity, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg/day. Depending on the severity of the infection and patient response, the dose may be gradually increased to a maximum dose of 200 mg/day. For children, the dose is determined by weight and should be swallowed whole.

This medication treats only bacteria, and should be used under the guidance and medical advice of a healthcare professional. Is are caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli). Is are a very common bacteria that is difficult to treat with antibiotics. Bactrim 500mg is an effective medication used to treat T. Is (UTIs)T. Is may be caused by other bacteria, such as those caused by Escherichia coli, or conditions that may occur in the vagina or gastrointestinal tract that may cause infections that are not well understood. If any of these bacteria are suspected to be causing T. I., they may be identified through testing and should be treated with a medication that is specifically designed to treat them. This medication should be used in a hospital setting only as first-line therapy, and avoided in patients with a known or suspected T. I.
